October getaways

Last month I had the privilege of getting away two weekends.  The first was a girls trip and the second was to visit family.

For our girls trip we stayed in this really cute airbnb.  It was straight up on a farm.  I thought all along that we were going to Paso Robles which is the new wine country, but failed to look at the address of where we actually were staying.  It wouldn't have changed anything, but I was surprised.  I guess that week they dug up all of the artichokes on the farm so it was no longer the "charming farm house on a lovely artichoke farm"  Well, it was still an artichoke farm, but they were no longer.  Haha!

We went into Carmel because it was about 40 minutes away and us ladies sat on the warm sandy beach with no children for the first time ever together!  We always go with our kids, but this was another level of relaxing!

For dinner we went to Rocky Point Restaurant, the same place we went last thanksgiving and once again I was blown away by the view.

Meanwhile, we got texts from the husbands about their BBQ with all the kids and their man-only food policy.

Later in the month, I headed up to the northwest.  I flew into Seattle to see a friend, then we (My sister and her fam and I) drove down to Portland the next day to spend time with my grandma and family there.

First stop, Din Tai Fung.  Lots of food pics to follow, because apparently that's all I did!

These coconut and chocolate tarts from Baker and Spice are the bomb.

Listening to the conversation of my aunt, grandma, and dad at the kitchen table during breakfast is funny and just heart warming.  I love my family!

My aunt took us out to Hong's Khao Man Gai for lunch.  I was really needing to taste the sauce again to make sure I knew what I was trying to make back home.  I got it mostly right!  I hope to share sometime in the next year.  haha.

Meanwhile, I also got lots of pics from home.  I was so happy they did this when I was gone!

I also worked on Hannah's photo journal big time while in Portland.  My sister got the pics printed and cut them all up for me!

Getting away is always good, but coming home is good too!  I am thankful that I get to do things like this every now and again!

Happy wednesday!
