Beach for days
We have been doing a weekly beach day. We go again tomorrow and as always, we hope the sun is out in the morning, the wind stays away, and we get good parking! We tend to go to the same spot when we are meeting friends, it's just easier. However, I do like to check out new beaches, so maybe when no one else is going we will. For now, we are at Twin Lakes State Beach.
Here are some pics from the past 3 weeks.
Jealous of her beach hair!!
A wave got her good on our 2nd beach day. Now when we go she says, "I hope I don't tumble!" When she tells the story it is so cute!
Sand. Every which way.
It also is kind of a tradition to get ice cream after the beach. We went to this place right next to the beach for soft serve. Unfortunately, 1 of the 7 children didn't get a cone. I am a mean mom....or a mom who does not let stubborn children get away with being stubborn! I'm not really super proud of this moment, but I do know that it kind of had to happen.
Asking for another "teeny wittle bite" in the cutest voice and cutest face ever.
Still no.
She eventually started body surfing (kinda) and thought it was just as fun!
The cutest!
And this trip, 4 out of 4 children received cones.
It was 3rd time's the charm for me on this last outing. I have to be honest and say the first two beach days were not that fun for me. Between the emotional exhaustion of fighting a toddler to do her swim lesson that she just decided she doesn't want to do right before coming to the beach and me being spoiled with the beaches in Kauai; Santa Cruz was just not doing it for me. And I love Santa Cruz. The beach, the company, the kids just having so much fun. The first two weeks, I was super pessimistic for every reason I could think of and both times were no day at the beach. This third time was everything I remembered it to be and I can't wait to go back tomorrow! Hopefully the waves are just as good as last time and maybe Joel will give it a try!
Totally understand the stubborn kid ice cream hold out. It's not pretty but hey yes is yes, and no is no. I appreciate the honest beach evaluation - sometimes the beach is phase 2 fun (fun in retrospect)
