Moving no-nos

I think I have committed all of the cardinal sins of moving.  To make it worse, I knew what I was doing and did them anyway.  Thankfully, my husband still loves me and I have not set us back too much that we can't move tomorrow.  Yep, tomorrow.  Blogging while moving is most probably one of the sins and I am currently committing it.  Heyo!

I have left out a little detail in previous posts, so here it all is.  Sorry if I am repeating myself (reading through old blogs is too big of a sin even for me to commit!)  We are moving houses.  The owners of our house wanted to sell to get their $$$$$$$$$$$ (I don't have the strength in my entire being to write out the actual number).  I don't blame them, I'm just bummed we had to be ousted mid-school year.  They gave us 60 days to vacate, the official date was March 8th.  We, however, already had a lot of things booked and so we found the only two possible weekends we could move during that time and decided that we would find a place and be outta here by then.  No sense in paying for two places when you're also on vacation!  After lots of searching new neighborhoods, the school districts (CA school districts are straight confusing!), and proximity to work and pool, we landed on an area called Cambrian Park.  It is still San Jose and it is about 11 miles SE of our current location.  It isn't crazy far away, but if you can imagine traffic then you know that each mile is valuable.  Especially since we haven't had to think about traffic and commute times since being down here.  It is closer to the pool, but further from work (how can you beat 3 miles away??).  Our lives are going to change a lot, but they will also be the same.

We got the keys last week and the kids had so much fun exploring the new place.  They loved it.  I, on the other hand, had a harder time.

Fast forward a few days and we did a partial move.  We emptied out most of the garage, did my potted plants, and other miscellaneous things that are hard to pack. By this time, I was feeling much better about the place.  The sun was out, my friends were in the house, and it was good.

Ava wrestled the tape on her boxes and went to town dumping her stuff out.  Probably not the most efficient way to do it, but she stayed busy!!

This whole week we have been making trips with stuff to unload and empty boxes to bring back.  We have way too much stuff...

Back at home during the week, I resumed normal activities like making kombucha.  Cause you know that is top priority!  You guys, I CANNOT WAIT to move into a kitchen without those horrid white knobs.  There are 50 of them and the moment I set my eyes on them I wanted to get rid of them.  4 years later, I am still cringing at them.

What I have learned about myself during this move, is that I cannot go more than a day without my kitchen.   I just can't.  I have been preparing far more elaborate dinners than I should be, still making homemade everything and more, but I just can't stop.  Such a sinner.

Okay, this is the worst of all!  Yes, I bought all of that kombucha and more than that.  So here's the deal, the New Seasons that JUST went in by us is closing.  So they sent an email saying everything was going to be 50% off on wednesday.  I HAD TO GO!

Completely re-stocking your pantry, fridge, and bottles of "all the things" is not what I had planned for the week, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  The worst part of it was, all of the south bay decided to head to New Seasons that morning too and I waited in line for an hour.  Do you know how long it takes to scan all of those little items and boxes.  Everyone there had carts like this basically.  Talk about using my packing time wisely.  ;)  Oh, what a sinner am I.

Of course there was the occasional hang out sesh, while everyone else was packing.  Sometimes I just needed a rest!

Lastly, and so worth it, I went to a kindergarten class meeting last night at a school we are no longer going to be a part of in a week.  For good reasons I am not going to mention, I had to go.  BUT look at what I got to peek at.  Joel's writing journal and the latest "How to" stories they are working on.  I mean seriously.  Even though I almost was not going to be absolved of this one it was SO WORTH IT!  The cutest dinosaur drawing how to I have ever seen.

  The End.  No.  Yes!

Well, that is the end for me.  I am sure I committed more, but I can't even remember.  Will post more of the house when we finally get wifi sometime next week at the house and I need another break!  ;)
