Charleston date day

Mike and Rachel gave us the wonderful gift of getting away for part of the day into Charleston.  We spent two solid days there with the kids, but that's the next blog.  Today, we're taking it back to our tenth anniversary trip and reliving it again.  All of those blogs are archived and tagged with Charleston, as are these.  We had SO much fun!

Driving away from the island and into the city.

Our first stop was to buy some more pottery!!  They recently moved their studio to one of the potter's backyard and the showroom in the front room of his home.  How cool is this?!

Studio in the back!

Backyard kiln.  #goals

Some of the pieces from the Husk collection, the restaurant where we fell in love with this pottery.  We had the best time doing this.  Talking to the artist, catching up with him, hearing his crazy stories (artists get into the oddest situations!), learning more about the process/creativity of the pieces, etc.  Almost 2 hours later, we needed to get going onto the other things we wanted to relive!

Meanwhile, we received pics of what the kids were up to.  So fun!

Our next stop was to Butcher and Bee.  We split a roast beef sandwich with pickled peppers and sweet onion jam and after the first bite we both looked at each other in agreement that this stop was worth it.  They moved a little further out of the city, so it was kind of out of our way, but so worth going!

As we drove in, we stopped by the bakery that we spent a good deal of time at because it was really close to the singlehouse we rented out.

Yum!

Love dates with Mike.  Time alone with him that is not at home gives us the opportunity to laugh, talk life and not just business, and we remember that we like each other as much as we love each other.

Also, I was a picture taking maniac (as if I'm not already), because Charleston is so darn charming!!  Mike thought he should capture it.

 So I did the same!

I also was channeling my inner Joanna Gaines.  Just look at the cover of the spring issue of her magazine.  Do I want to be her??  Yes.  Well, not the interior decorating part as much as everything else.

The cutest!

We finally parked in the city and just walked around until our dinner reservation.

We found the cute alley where we did our photoshoot too!

We had drinks first, but our dinner reservation finally came.  Husk was a must!!

Look at our plates!  Well, some of them.

Pantry goals.

I was exhausted, FULL, and ready to go home after Husk.  Mike would have partied into the night, he can't get enough Charleston!

Such a great day.  I have one more post about our trip and that is what we did in the city with the kids.  Hope to post soon!
