The bumpy bumps

We have this great BMX park near our house and the kids LOVE to go.  They affectionately and appropriately call the park "The Bumpy Bumps" and the name has stuck.

It's actually a large BMX park.  Near the front is where the smaller track is and as you go further back, the bumps (?) get steeper and higher.  A lot of older kids and even adults come here and they get upset when the little kids are everywhere.  I think that they should go to the back.

It's a bit nerve-wracking to see your littles zooming around with a bunch of other bikes, but there have been no collisions and they all seem to hold their own.

Even Joel gets in on it.  He doesn't do the bumps without help, but he likes to ride the curves.

Ava climbs the hills.

My dad showed them that they could do this.  Freaks me out every time!

Squeals of delight, every time she goes down it.  This is toward the back of the park where the bigger stuff is.

And he does it too!  Aaaaaaah!

And he loves it.

The nice thing is that this is our neighborhood park so we can often be here when no one else is.  If you get here in the morning or on a weekday I can let Ava roam around, take pictures, etc.  It's on the weekends and afternoons when the big kids ride up in their knee pads, elbow pads, and crazy helmets and they mean to do business and it's time for us to go.  At some point we will go mountain biking and show them some other terrain, but for now the bumpy bumps are a 5 minute bike ride away and the perfect place for these kids to work out their adventurous and dare-devilish ways.

Have a great thursday!

  1. This looks so fun! Poulsbo is building a BMX bike park less than five minutes from our house and I can't wait for it to be finished!
