Noodles, curls, and donut dates

The past two days, Hannah has been home sick from school.  With none other than....strep throat.  This is her 3rd round this year and as for what the doctor's have been telling me, she is still within  normal range.  I took the only appt. left in all of Silicon Valley on tuesday to make sure if it was strep, we'd get those antibiotics ASAP.

So, we've had some serious girl time, which is what this random post is about.  "Hannah's a girl, you're a girl, and myself is a girl.  There's 3 girls!" Ava joyfully stated multiple times throughout the day.

Having Hannah home brought back some SERIOUS nostalgia.  From bath time (I used to LOVE using bath time as a time filler when she was little!) to the constant need to play games, keep busy, and listening to the Frozen soundtrack on repeat (Ava will just sit on the couch and listen to the whole thing through for as many times as I'll let her play it!).  I also could not get away with snacking throughout the morning in lieu of lunch like Ava and I do some times.  We had potstickers tuesday and Hannah made butter noodles with parm on wednesday.  She has always loved her lunches hot, and big too!

As for the nostalgia, Hannah always lets Ava play with noodles while she waits for the water to boil.  I used to do this with Hannah when she was little.  It allowed me to get dinner started without her hanging off of me. The moment Hannah says she is making butter noodles, Ava knows the drill.  It is SO cute!  I am pretty sure I don't have any pics of Hannah doing this, but I wish I did.  Those little fingers!!

She doesn't love me taking pictures of her, but I just couldn't help it.  I hardly have any pictures of her anymore and the camera was sitting right there...

I think her curls are here to stay.  The ones underneath are getting tighter and tighter.  I am so NOT a hair person and so I've done nothing in her 3 years of life.  I finally bought some product for her curls in an attempt to tame them as well as help with the tangling.  But it STINKS!  Now I know why there is SO much waste in the beauty industry.  You end up trying multiple things until you find the one that works.  Somebody help me!

To add one last thing to the random, last friday, the kids went to work with Mike for Apple kids day.  They had a blast!!  Unfortunately, Ava was too young to tag along.  She is used to not getting to go with them to school, but I felt bad for her this day so I nonchalantly told her we'd go on a date!

I didn't even think she knew what a date was, but a donut at Whole Foods did not cut it!  Haha!  We were wandering the aisles at WF and she kept telling me she wanted to go on a date.  I said, "This is the date!  You got a donut!"  And she wasn't buying it for a second.  "I want to go on a date with you!" she kept saying.

So, after lunch, I told her we would go on a real date.  As we were driving she kept asking, "Is this the date?"  I had to reassure her we were driving to it.  So funny!  We ended up at Yogurtland and she felt pretty darn special getting to pour the froyo on her own.  Now she always asks for both a donut at WF and to go get froyo.

Love my girls!

  1. Love those curls. Little kids I know with curls use the shea moisture products - you can find them at the drug store. There's also aveda 'be curly' which you could test at a salon before buying. It will last awhile so the price isn't as crazy.

Bummer re strep. Can't you find a surgery happy doc who wants to take out her tonsils? ;)
