Carmel Day Trip

We've been off school all week and have been taking advantage!  We went down the coast on monday to Carmel.  It was wonderfully warm which made our shopping time and hiking along the ocean quite comfortable.

First stop, Carmel Bakery.  If only you could hear our "sweets boy" ooh and ahh over each bite.  We had to cut him off or he would have eaten the entire bakery!  He was in pastry heaven.

Our next stop was Pt. Lobos to hike around a bit.  We came here around Christmas last year and saw whales. We didn't see any this time, but the view did not disappoint.

We found some rocks that the kids could explore and climb and conquer.  There were tide pools with fish and crabs and hermit crabs and they couldn't have been happier.  They had so much fun!  I might have heard the words, "This is the best day ever!" and "I want to come here again!"  Which is a nice change from, "THIS IS THE WORST DAY EVER!"  Which might be capitalized for a reason.  We definitely will come back.

We drove a little bit further south and stopped at a restaurant right on the oceanside cliff.  Quite the spot!!  It was so amazing and beautiful I felt like I needed to pinch myself.  I might have dreamt that this is where I would re-marry Mike some day.  Serious!

And Joel wouldn't take a picture with me...  But yummy paella!  :)

They were SO over the picture taking, but I couldn't get enough!

We ended up heading home after lunch after driving just a bit further south to take in a little more of the coast.  This is a must see for everyone!
