SF girl day
On Sunday, my friend and I, were graciously given a day to explore SF together. Sans kids!! We had planned this out a while ago and the day finally came. We were very thankful to get to do this because SF is super fun, but also it was good to get some uninterrupted girl time in. Michelle is the mother of the little girl I do a child swap with and we are always together, but our other children (all 7 or any number less than that down to 2) always are around too!
After asking for recommendations as well as doing some research, we figured out the places we wanted to hit and make the most of our day. Here goes.
For a late breakfast/brunch we went to Vive La Tarte. They have a bunch of sweet pastries, some quiches, breads, and a menu to order from. We ended up getting a focaccia egg bacon thing, this apricot croissant and a quiche. Everything was delicious. Sight Glass coffee is also on site and I was too full to have anything even though that was the original intent. I know people enjoy Sight Glass, but I can not vouch for them. Yet. We could easily come back, even with kids, because it is in a spacious room and the kids would LOVE to sit on a bleacher style sitting area that is inside. It is a super cute space.
After brunch we headed over to Sausalito. This is just across the Golden Gate Bridge and one cute little town! I got the honor of selfie taking and we were cracking up because you can't even see the city in the background of this one.
There it is!
We went to Sausalito to take a tour of the Heath Ceramics factory. You have to RSVP to a tour, but they are free!
Huge kilns!
They do have a store front that you can stop by at any time. They sell some of their "seconds" at a discounted price. Just in case you have ever been interested in their stuff. It really is beautiful. Very different from the ceramic studio we visited in Charleston, but still very interesting tour. The people we were with had flown in and did this tour. Some people are that crazy about Heath Ceramics!
Before we headed back into the city we stopped to take in the Golden Gate!
And then since we could, we went down to Baker beach. We have only been on the beach on the other side of the bridge at Crissy Field. Both are fun!
We had our late lunch in Inner Richmond at a place called Burma Superstar and it was DELICIOUS! No pics because we were too excited to eat and I don't think it is possible to go wrong with anything on the menu. It was a blend off all sorts of cuisines--Indian, Thai, Chinese. While we waited to get in, because there was a line out the door, we shopped around at the CUTE shops nearby. There was also a Farmer's Market, but it was closing at 2 and that's about when we arrived. Tantrum above was one of the cutest kids' shops I have ever seen. There were some other boutiques next door, as well as a number of Asian grocery and goods stores. An eclectic mix!
Lastly, we went to Hayes Valley and there were a ton of cute boutiques, kids stores, and restaurants. We probably could have spent our entire day in this one area. I highly recommending visiting this area if you are ever in SF! This cute candy shop is called Miette.
We headed home after this, it was about 5:30 pm. Too full to get dinner and wanting to get a little family time in as well as watch some of the Warriors game. We had already done so much in one day! I was so thankful to get this time with Michelle!
Have a happy tuesday!
