San Francisco with Layla

We wandered up to San Francisco this time last week.  I didn't realize Randy had never seen the city before our last trek up with them, so I wanted to show him some more iconic SF.  Not that I know the ins and outs, but at least the Golden Gate!  The plan was to see the Ferry building, Fisherman's Wharf and then the Golden Gate from Crissy Field.  The Wharf got scrapped because #fivekidswow.  :)

First stop was touring the Ferry building and enjoying yummy treats from Acme and Blue Bottle.  We also couldn't walk past Heath Ceramics without stopping in to gawk at their lovely ceramics.  On saturdays there is a great farmer's market outside the Ferry Building too.

Then we went to Crissy field where the Golden Gate is a lovely backdrop to the beach.  It wasn't very cold, but it was SUPER windy.  Not very conducive for a group shot of the kids, but we had to try!

We ended up having lunch in the back of the Yukon XL and then the sun came out a little bit more and the wind died down just a tad to try another group shot.  Is it just me or are the silly face pics better than the perfectly posed and smiling ones?  Maybe it's just Ava and her tongue that just gets me every time.

Joel was the extra special one this trip and he got to ride in the car with Layla.  They left to get her to sleep while the rest of us stayed to play on the beach a bit longer.

This was so fun for me.  Exploring new places and watching my kids have a great time is so fulfilling to me.  I want to show them the world.  Sometimes I wish I could travel more and feel the burden of this season of young children, but deep down I wouldn't want to go without them.  They make it fun.  They also make it challenging of course, but definitely more exciting than anything.  I hope that we can.  Until then, we'll keep exploring the west coast one day at a time.
