Capitola with Layla
Last week we also went to the beach with Layla. We had never taken them to Capitola and so that was the destination of choice. Capitola is great because there is easy access to bathrooms and parking (on weekdays), and ice cream!! It wasn't ideal weather as it was a bit cool with some wind, but not enough to stop the kids!
First stop, was a picture of all five with the picturesque colorful houses in the background before anyone got too cranky. Haha. Taking a perfect picture of all 5 will not disappoint, in entertainment that is...
Baby Layla wasn't so thrilled about wearing a swim suit in the cool air, but it was worth a try!
There goes Ava with that tongue again. This picture is gold.
This little "river" was dry the last time we came here. There is evidence of the rain from this year in every water way and it is quite promising. We still have a long way to go, but at least there is hope! Funny side note: Calvin calls all creeks "droughts." I think we talked about how everything is dry from the drought so many times in the past 2.5 years that he thought that's what they were called. "Look, there's water in that drought now!" Haha.
The sand cliffs were quite entertaining and the kids spent much of the morning here. Throwing rocks, trying to collapse the cliffs, jumping into the river. So fun!
There was also some marine life to check out on the rocks. Hannah was fascinated and I was happy to tag along and be brave ;) touching the anemones for her.
After packing up and with a little time before our parking expired, we got some ice cream and had to go for that same shot I have framed of the 3 oldest children on this bench. (They are so little in those pictures!! Joel is about 4 months older in those pics than Ava here.)
Another fun and successful outing with Layla! Can't wait till she can run around with them!
