Capitola beach playdate

We headed down to Capitola for a beach playdate today.  There are lots of opportunities for playdates with the church we go to, but I haven't been to a single one this summer.  However, I rescheduled an appointment to not miss out on this one.  It takes little convincing to get me to the beach.  4 kids and a 10 minute walk down to the beach by myself (without a stroller I might add), no problem!  The kids know they have to help out when it is just me.  If they want it, they have to carry it!  Fortunately, the kind parking officials had great pity on me as they watched me and my ducklings start the trek down to the beach.  He told me to go to the 2 hour beach front parking spots and would let me stay longer than 2 hours.  Thank the Lord for good people like him!

The beach was packed with junior guards.  They were playing beach flags which brought me back to when I was 14 and did a whole summer of lifeguard training at the beach.  I was the queen of beach flags!!  That was one of the best summers on record.

The kids loved playing on the rocks and staying safe from the crashing waves.

I called them down from the rocks for lunch and as Calvin jumped down a wave caught him and he wiped out big time.  The water hid the rocks from sight and they tripped him up, then the power of the wave sent him tumbling.  It was his first wave pummeling.  The first of many more to come.

Then on the way out, we stopped for ice cream cones.  It was already past nap time, but in the name of the last week of summer break we stopped in anyway.  Another thing to cross off of our Summer Fun list.  The sun came out and we got ice cream, another perfect beach day in the books.

  1. Excellent mommy advice - if you want it, you have to carry it. Your kids will be ready for life. :)
