Rancho San Antonio

Last night, we rounded out our very busy weekend with getting family pictures done.  Let me tell you guys, I think I need a personal assistant that does my scheduling who can make smarter choices than I.  My problem is, let me rephrase, my problems are that I think I can get it all done, I often go with the flow and don't think everything through, and I just want to do get stuff done.  Last week, the biggest thing was school starting and I didn't think it was going to take as big of a toll on us all as it did.  Come weekend, it was booked, and there was no rest for the weary.  Fortunately, the weekend was so so so fun, and to top it off, we finally got our family pictures done.  Whew.  Those are so stressful.  I think it's been exactly one year since our last family photos, and so basically it was 5 of us plus a burrito.  One year later, that burrito has a bit more spicy salsa and we wanted to capture her before she grows any more.

So these past two weeks, the kids and I did some adventuring and ground work to find a great location to take family photos.  First stop:  Rancho San Antonio County Park.  Super close to our home, and so beautiful.  It is a LARGE park with trails that lead to everywhere and had I thought everything through (cue personal assistant ad), I would have brought their bikes.  Next time I'll know.

After the first visit, I was sure we were going to take our pictures here.  However, after thinking through it all and visiting a second time, I realized that wherever we took pictures here, we'd have to walk a good distance.  I didn't want to roll the dice on how photogenic they would be after a hike.  So, we'll save this place for the candids.

After checking out the scenery, we stopped to watch the model planes being flown.  They were so intrigued I could hardly pull them away.  You know what Calvin wants for his birthday?

They have not stopped talking about this!

We also visited Santa Clara University, which we have visited many times before, but never to scout out photo shoot locations.  I was smart and brought the boys' bikes this time and they LOVED riding around the paths on campus.

Ultimately, we chose to take pics here because it is easy, and so beautiful.  Gorgeous architecture everywhere you look and flowers in bloom all around.  Can't wait to see the pictures soon!!

Have a great Monday!!
