Giving him wings

Before the next weekend begins, I must share some fun from last weekend.  We were invited to a pool party and the kids had so much fun!

Calvin was being the most adventurous and brave, which is very characteristic of him as of late.

Last year at this time, we were gearing up for some BIG change.  I was 6 days overdue with Ava, Hannah was to start kindergarten in 2 weeks and Calvin to preschool in 3 weeks.  The latter being the biggest deal of the 3.

We thought he was ready.  He thought he was ready.  But the reality is that he wasn't.

One year later, this boy has grown and matured so much.  Even from two months ago he has changed a lot.  We are giving preschool another try.  I think he is going to fly.

Parenting is that eternal balancing act of keeping them close so that they can grow wings, and then pushing them out to use them.  Keeping them close to stay protected, pushing them out to experience real life.  It's been done for centuries, but the struggle remains.  These kids.  My heart.  I am just so grateful to be their mom.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Look at that air time! Paul and I are starting to work out now to be able to toss Crosby around when he's older.
