It's still summer BBQ
This past Saturday, we invited a bunch of our friends over for a BBQ. We planned it when the start of school was about 3 weeks out and it was my way of coping with the fact that school was starting in the middle of August. I'm not down with that, Cali. I appropriately titled it, the "It's Still Summer BBQ" and we were going to celebrate, darn it.
Since the little miss had her birthday the sunday before, I decided to do cupcakes for her at the BBQ. I also needed a reason to make a unicorn stamp!
In true Ava style, she INHALED that cupcake. I will say, they were mighty tasty. So tasty, I had to throw them away to keep myself from eating more.
Much to the children's delight, we made a fire. Some of them were going for world records on how many marshmallows you could roast/burn at once.
Calvin gained a new friend and gave him an earful I'm sure.
The kids had SO much fun they were glowing. They went to bed with the biggest smiles on their faces. They now all want BBQ birthday parties at night so they can make s'mores.
If I had thought through the busyness of the week leading up to this and the other things we had going on this weekend, I probably would not have invited over so many people. However, I'm so glad I did because this was one of the highlights of the summer for sure. YOLO!

YOLO!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm still crying because I can't believe Ava is 1! Boohoohoo.
