Easter 2016

Hi friends and family!!  Pardon my short break, we left town on wednesday and had a lot to do before we left!  We went down to Huntington Beach for Mike's grandfather's memorial service, more on our time down there soon.

Before it gets away from me, I wanted to recap our fun Easter activities.  Lots of pics to follow.

I almost didn't do natural egg dye, but I couldn't persuade myself otherwise.  (sigh)  Let me just tell you that every time I have tried spinach it does not work.  I wish I would have remembered to get beets this time and from looking at past blogs it looks like blackberries also work.  Someday I will compile all of the info!!

This year for they dyes that actually worked:
yellow-turmeric
orange-paprika
green-turmeric and red cabbage leaves
blue- red cabbage leaves
purple-blueberries
pinkish-raspberries

All of the ingredients should be boiled in enough water to cover for ~7 minutes and about a teaspoon of vinegar added per cup of liquid.

  Easter brunch at our house!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration too!
