FIVE

We celebrated Joel's birthday over the weekend with a FIVE party.  I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!  He is so stuck on it too, I tried other intriguing themes that he had mentioned in the past, but he was steadfast.

This was on his actual birthday.  I made him peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and this was his face each time we sang to him.  So sweet!!

Bunches of 5 balloons, 5 flags, a chocolate cake with a big 5, and 5 things on the menu (hamburgers, hot dogs, salad, watermelon and chips).

We did a scavenger hunt, trying to find 5 of a kind or a group of things that come in 5 (like vowels, oceans, olympic rings, food groups, senses).

Like always, I was scrambling right at the end to get all of the finishing touches done and I never took a picture of the piñata Mike constructed and I decorated.

That smile.

He had a great time, but I need to be honest.  All he really wanted was the presents.  I had to remind him beforehand that we do presents at the end and to not ask to do them before.  Haha!

I remember when Hannah was turning 4 (Joel was weeks old) and I was all nervous because her next birthday she would be 5 and I couldn't handle that.  That little baby is there already and that is something I really can't comprehend!!  Happy 5!
