End of swim season meet and awards
Last year, we went on vacation the week of the championship meet and they were devastated. This year, we stuck around. And they were so mad we hadn't gone on vacation yet. You just can't win!
I'm so glad we stuck around this year. The kids had an awesome meet and they cleaned up at the awards banquet.
The morning of champs was really cold. It was 57 and they were freezing their wet little bodies off after warm-up. Go figure. It was going to be a really hot day, but we are so thankful we had plenty of layers for the morning.
Hannah was lucky enough to get on both A relays at champs and she rocked both of them! The last relay, her teammate just out touched 2nd place and we were all going wild.
I have a great pic of Hannah and her relay, but trying to be good about only posting pics of my kids. She is a head shorter than the rest of them! You can kinda see that here. Small, but mighty!
Hannah was seeded 8th in her 25 fly, dropped 1.5 seconds here, and got 2nd to her teammate! So exciting!
He is just so darn cute!
#1 fan. She was SUPER upset after a race this meet because she didn't get to cheer for her sister. Pout face and slumped shoulders and all because of it. So sweet.
Joel got 1st in his backstroke heat and I don't know who was more proud, him or us. The candy for the heat winner could also have played a part.
Cooling off
One of Calvin's relay members did not show up for the meet, so Joel got to step in and swim on his big brother's relay!
Sunday was the awards banquet and starting with Joel and all the way up to Hannah, each kid was given at least 1 award. I was so proud, but it was also a lot of awards (embarrassingly so) for one family!!
We raced home after the banquet to get to packing. We were leaving at 4 am the next morning for our trip up north.
