Monday fun
We were Memorial Day celebrating heathen in that we took the day to ourselves and not to remember those that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Ooph. On a lighter note, we had a very fun day on monday with lots of pics to show for it...
High hopes of making strawberry jam after picking loads at this farm in Santa Cruz. Sadly, they were all picked out from the busy weekend.
The kids didn't mind finding a few mostly red berries to snack on.
We were driving along the coast for a spot to have lunch and I spotted a beach in the distance. It was a little hike down and the kids were being silly.
Out of control laughter and silliness. All of the time!
We brought our bikes to ride, but after finding this gem of a beach we ended up just staying here till it was time to go home. We'll ride another time, unless the beach woos us again.
We went exploring along the rocks and found some great tide pools with little crabs.
That face is real. All of my kids have been scared of the little crabs. I remember just loving playing with them when I was younger.
All the kids were jumping down to him and apparently I was also in line.
I can't believe Hannah captured this, but she did perfectly.
I don't want to walk back to our stuff, Mom. I'd rather just dig.
Actually, sitting will do too.
"Noooo!" exclaimed Ava. Ava is always exclaiming no.
It seems I always am scooping her up when she refuses to listen.
This is what I look like many times during the day with this stubborn child.
This is what he looks like.
A good little hike back to the car, but SO worth it!
As we were leaving, Hannah told us she wanted to come back here for her birthday. Which means she had so much fun. I want to go back too!
Lastly, on the off chance that you think my life is all fun adventures and happy, happy, joy, joy. I wanted to share what else I did over the long weekend.
I picked up rocks. These horrific white rocks and lava rocks that are scattered about a walkway. Ever since I laid eyes on them when I first toured the house I wanted to get rid of them. What an eye sore! They must have been paid to lay them down. Seriously.
Not quite there, but looking waaaay better. I am not sure how I am going to store them all so I can't finish my job at the moment. But you better believe I will!
The one upside to all of this. We found another fruit! And we believe it is passion fruit because there was a label at the base of it's vine that we found when clearing the rocks. Can't wait to try it!
Had to get that off my chest! :) Just couldn't let you think that my life is all rainbows and unicorns and beaches and passion fruit. It's also white rocks and lava rocks and even worse, cockroaches in the garage. :)
