Mother's Day 2016

Mike left town saturday and has safely and successfully gotten to where he needs to be.  That left Sunday all up to me, well, Hannah too.  She stepped up in her very favorite way, helping plan and cook the meals and telling everyone else what to do.  I think she felt some pressure to get it right since she had everyone telling her to be good, be a good listener, not sass, help out, etc.  Well, she went above and beyond, mixing up the crepe batter on her own, gifting me her creations with her siblings signing their names.  So sweet.  I sure let her know how much I appreciated her.  Mike left some goodies hidden at the house too, so I felt so loved.

We had a wonderful morning at church, getting spoiled by an espresso bar, the nicest church Mother's Day gift I've ever been given, the CUTEST video of some of the kids being interviewed, and a wonderful Q&A from some wonderful moms at church.  After church, we grabbed some lunch at Whole Foods and then went to the nearby farmer's market.  You should have seen the looks I got out and about today.  Poor mom toting around 4 young children by herself on Mother's Day!  It was pretty funny.

After naps and before the hanger could strike, I begged and bribed for ONE nice picture with them.... Part of it was my fault, I had to figure out how to focus the camera right and then I had to get the focal point to stay put!!

Not really what I was envisioning, but what about motherhood ever is?  Accepting what is, that's always the lesson!

For dinner, bless Hannah's heart, she wanted to make me sushi.  They only like cucumber sushi, so prime now to the rescue and we had a cucumber just in time.  We did all kinds of things that we would have never gotten away with Daddy around, so it worked out.  Kids couldn't stop saying it was the BEST DINNER EVER.  They love being able to use their hands...sticky rice fingers stuffing rice into the nori and SILLINESS all throughout dinner.  It was chaotic, but all were happy!  For dessert, I tried some avocado chocolate pudding that was just okay.  The texture was on point, but it was just too sweet!  Dialing back on the sweetness had too much avocado flavor.  However, it was definitely worth the try and we would have never gotten away with such a thing with Mike!! ;)

Hope you had a wonderful day too!
