Fruit friday | apricots and potatoes

I'm expanding the friday blog theme to flowers AND fruit.  Because it's that season!  Today's theme: fruits of our garden.

Last week we picked most of the rest of the apricots off of our tree.  Not as many as in previous years.  However, these were the largest, juiciest, most delicious apricots I have ever eaten in my life.  YUM!  See that little apricot on the white plate on the bottom right?  That is the typical size of apricots we were buying from Trader Joe's earlier this season.

These pics of Hannah next to our apricot tree are from a couple of weeks ago:

Trying to show off how big the apricots were.

Also excavated from our yard by Hannah, potatoes!!

So that's what we had for dinner.

And apricots and figs from our yard too.  Plums are ripening right now as well.

I was proud of this spread.  Some nights I have just enough energy to make chicken and salmon teriyaki (a recurring "go-to" meal) and other nights I am creating brand new things or making a diverse spread.  This night we had grilled potatoes and broccolette, a caesar salad (half eaten before this pic was taken), fresh fruit with grilled lemon garlic chicken, grilled greek meatballs, and one kielbasa (sometimes you just gotta clean out the freezer!).  This is great material for the newest "Very Hungry Caterpillar," Lindsay's home cooked meals edition. ;)

There was a brief hiatus in the joy of cooking, but now that the kids are a little older and their palates a little more refined, I am finding it again.  And it feels good!

Happy friday!
