Huskies and NYE and sickness

New Year's Eve was an epic day for Husky Nation.  I started college the year after the last time the Huskies went to the Rose Bowl.  That was 15 years ago.  I went to many games we celebrated a first down with extreme excitement.  We had to throw program confetti for something.  It was a tough road for many years being a loyal Dawg Fan.  We were super excited to watch the game and we were going to do it with some of our closest friends, the mom happens to be an Alabama alum.  It was going to be a friendly rivalry and a fun party!  Sadly, we never got together.  If I haven't mentioned before, our break was full of sickness.  Strep, colds and coughs and fevers, more strep, back to school and another bout of strep!!  Our poor friends were dealing with the rounds too (hers was worse!).  We ended up staying away from each other and had a small texting party instead.  Fun times!  It was a little anticlimactic, but probably for the best.

I even made her girls Alabama hair clips!  Two of these are not like the others....  ;)

I kinda like to go all out for parties...

I even made lumpia for the game.  Mike helped me wrap!  And this was one of the ones that did not burst open.  I have to learn some better wrapping techniques.  I post this because that day I had two lumpia, jalapeño potato chips, and 2 cookies for lunch during the game.  This was after my sister had been texting me a ton the days before about my eating habits and I was telling her about how good I have been.  Ha!! The one thing that I never mentioned to her is that earlier that morning, I swam 10,000 yards to cap off our Master's swim triple crown (5k on black friday, 7.5k on Christmas eve, and 10k on NYE).  It was the first time I've done all 3 of the swims in one year and I was so tired that afternoon that I took a nap during said "epic" Husky game.  That's 5.68 miles of swimming, people!  I earned those lumpia!

That night we stayed in, many of our friends were out of town, and we did some leftover fireworks from the 4th.  So fun!!  And this time they got to do them in the dark!

I wish I had a better one of Hannah, but I had to include the ONE of her holding sparklers without this frightened and fearful look on her face!  She is still very squeamish around all of this.

Happy New Year to you all!  Prayers for HEALTH and healthiness and no sickness in your homes and in ours!
