Fruit friday | Apple tree evolution

  It is just short of 6 months from Mike's birthday until mine.  I didn't plan the dates, but I just so happened to document our apple tree from January 25 til mid-July.  Our apple season for this particular tree is long over, but we are still reaping the benefits of such a wonderful tree.  I am not sure the exact variety, but I would guess they are galas.  The apples are amazing fresh, bake well in pie, and make THE best applesauce.  We definitely enjoyed them all 3 ways.

  This post is picture heavy and took me a LONG time, I had to be perfectly chronological and accurate you see.  You might not be that interested, but the biologist in me is all giddy about this kind of thing.  Enjoy!

Harvest time!

  We had been picking and enjoying the apples for a couple of weeks now, but they seemed to be ripening faster than we thought.  It was hot out and the redder ones were not as crisp as we had remembered.  We decided to pick them all, make a lot of applesauce, and store the rest in the fridge.  They were definitely nice and crisp! 

There were some HUGE apples!
