New Brighton Beach

We checked out a new beach this past weekend.  It is in Capitola.   It was a state beach, so you have to pay to park.  Unless you are at the beach on an off day, it is worth it.  You don't have to go searching and the parking lot is nearby.

It was pretty warm out, so the water felt nice after the initial ice bath shock.

Ava was happy to chill in the chair with a little snack in the cup holder.

Joel was having a rougher day.  Little sisters screaming "Stop!" and a lot of beach flies that he thought were sure to eat him.  "They're going to eat me!" (lots of sobs)

He actually got better after lunch and I could hardly get him out of the waves.  Remember, he is our child who does not like new things.  Building up courage is a big deal, but when he does, there is no stopping him.  First, I held him in the waves.  Second, he was getting his toes wet.  Eventually, he was putting his face into the waves and jumping up and down telling me how they weren't scary.  Watching that whole evolution is very satisfying as a parent.

Compared to other beaches we've been to in NorCal, it definitely was more scenic.  However, the beach was more rocky, even under the sand.

The big rocks were fun to explore and climb.

She was so proud to have climbed her rock.  She thinks she is such a big girl and wants to hang with her sibs.  She gets so upset when she is left behind.  It is really cute.

He found a heart rock and it was Valentine's Day.  So appropriate.

New beach or old, it's always a good time!
