Crap happens

Today, I had Ava dressed up so darn cute it was worthy of taking a picture of her.  I really thought about doing it too.  It was her cute pattern print leggings and matching headband that is just enough coordination without going overboard.  I am in love with the Aztec prints right now!!  I got them for her first birthday and they are just now fitting better.  She also had on her fringe leather boots that no longer slip off of her feet.  So darling.  I wish I could pull off an outfit like that.

Unfortunately, crap happens and I mean that in the literal sense.  We were driving to our bible study this morning and when I got her out of her seat I smelled an awful smell.  When I went to change her, I had no idea that the diaper was not containing it and it was not only down the leg, but up her back too.  I thought the days of blowouts were done, but not when you have to go and you are also buckled into your car seat.  Gross.  Besides how gross it was, all I could think about while wiping her was her adorable leggings and outfit that she could no longer wear.

After we got home this afternoon and I got the kids fed, the breakfast dishes done, and things settled down a bit, I finally changed Ava into some of her own clothes (not the old spares I found in the back of the car that were actually Joel's back-up pants).  I also finally got to wash out the dirty clothes.  Of course, as soon as I was done scrubbing poop, I walked out to find Ava in the other bathroom splashing around in the toilet in her fresh set of clothes.  This girl...I can barely keep up with her!

While I was cleaning off her hands and changing her shirt yet again, I could only chuckle to myself.  I feel that I have finally crossed some threshold and now am a seasoned mom in this department.  When I had just Hannah, I would have proclaimed the day "hard" and it would have put me in a mood.  Now, this is normal life, not so much the poop part, but the everything happening at once and you can't keep up part.  I also was thinking, there is no amount of advice or forewarning that you can give a pregnant mom to prepare her for what is to come.  I know people told me that things don't go as planned and that it is a lot of work and so on, but until you do it you just have no idea.

Needless to say, I never got that picture of Ava in her cute outfit, but hopefully I painted a vivid enough picture for you to imagine one yourself.

However, since it is throwback Thursday and most of you only come here to see pics, I thought I'd share a picture of her from our photoshoot last August right after her first birthday, donning those super cute pattern print leggings and coordinating head band.  I guess I didn't need that picture after all.

For more cuteness, you can check out the blog post I did of our family photo shoot.

Have a great Thursday!
