Phone photo dump

Have I ever mentioned that tuesdays are the hardest day of the week for me?  I am usually so gung-ho on mondays with cleaning, chores, errands, etc. and waking up early to swim that come tuesday I am just burned out and I can hardly lift a finger.  I took almost a 2 hour nap yesterday.  That is so typical of tuesdays.  By wednesday, I've gotten into the rhythm and I feel back to normal.  Anyway, thought I'd start with a random thought for this very random post.

From my phone...

Joel got fins (just like big bro) and he loves them.  Fins really teach kids how to do a proper kick and it has improved his swimming so much.

He really didn't deserve ice cream, but it was Grandma's treat on her way out of town and so you know.

Sometimes I look back and forget how cute she is.  So I take a picture.  :)

Diving board season has returned.

Hopefully he'll not need anyone to assist him to the side by the time summer is over.  We'll see!

I plucked two teeth out earlier this week and the tooth fairy did come. :)  Mike was pulling my arm to call the dentist (again) and I didn't want to have to do that.  We tried really hard one night to get her teeth out and it was Hannah's idea to get the pliers.  After a few tries it finally came out.  She is so stinkin' tough.  When we told Calvin what we did to get out, he said, "You're not doing that to me!"  Yes, we know, we would definitely be calling the dentist for him.

He is so funny!

This is from today, at the end of a playdate with Calvin's friend from school.  Cutest little boy who refers to Calvin as "bro."  "Hey, bro, throw me the ball.  Bro, come sit by me."  I couldn't help but laugh every time he said it.  We certainly had a wonderful time in their home, but it was a cultural experience for sure.  Have you ever heard stories of moms who show love through their hospitality and food?  Like, it is disrespectful not to eat their food even when the moment you step in the door all they are doing is giving you more and more food and you are not hungry?  That was his sweet mom and she would not stop.  (I started hiding food in my bag so that I didn't have to eat it and I wasn't being rude by not.  :)  She doesn't even ask, she just gives!)  However, I definitely was not complaining about already making and bringing lunch for us when she cooked some rice and brought out butter chicken and fresh naan.  Yum!  They are Sri Lankan and I have never talked to a Sri Lankan before, but it was so very interesting to hear her story.  They had to escape Sri Lanka when she was a teen and was in Ontario for a number of years.  She also told me that Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, just like Hawaii, but even more beautiful.  So you know that peaked my interest.  :)  She had no decorations in her home which made me realize how much stuff I have.  I definitely would not be able to be so minimalist, but I did come home wanting to purge.  She also started giving Calvin and Joel her boy's toys to take home and he was totally fine with it.  I couldn't believe how he just handed his toys over.  Calvin couldn't either.  She was telling me earlier how she didn't want her kids to become selfish and just take, take, take.  I like to give our extra stuff away, but I am definitely doing it to clean house and not with a spirit of generosity.  I have some learning from her to do!

You made it through my random post!  Have a great day!
