Monterey and Pacific Grove

Mike was out of town this weekend with some college buddies in San Diego.  I was happy he got to go and 2 days solo is nothing compared to what I've done.  We are home now for a while, thankfully, we have been gone from home a lot!  For Mike it was 4 out of the last 5 weekends he was gone.  It's really fun, but a little more space between is always nice.  Anyway, I was home with the 4 on saturday with blue, sunny skies and both baseball games were cancelled (lots of rain the day before!).  The kids let me sleep in until 8:20 (yes, Lord!), so I was feeling well rested and I made a last minute decision to take them to Monterey and go to the aquarium and possibly the beach.  It wasn't all perfect, let me tell you, but we had a very fun day.  We rolled into Monterey around 12, grabbed lunch, then walked the aquarium for a bit.

It's kinda windy and the ocean moisture didn't help, but I straightened her hair and now she asks me to do it every morning.  I won't do it every morning, cause we still love her curls!

After 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking (as told to me by Calvin who got a watch for his birthday and times EVERYTHING!) we went to the car to drive just a mile south to Pacific Grove.  This cute little park with beach area is called Lover's Point.  There were a couple of weddings going on.  It was really gorgeous and I told Hannah to keep this place in the back of her mind for her wedding.  To which she replied, "MOM!"  Haha.

Exploring the tide pools in a little cove.  Beautiful colors, crystal clear water, lots of hermit crabs and other things to find!  SO fun!

She could have done this for hours!

We didn't get home until around 6 pm and I was exhausted!  I had so many hopes for my nights alone, getting my sewing machine out, cleaning my desk, etc.  I had about enough energy to flip through some magazines I had been saving up, so in the interest of checking things off of a list, I did that!!

Hope you had a good weekend!
