Easter 2017
We did our traditional Easter egg dyeing friday morning. Joel helped me make the dyes.
turmeric-yellow
raw beet juice-purplish pink
red cabbage-bluish eggs
blueberries-dark purple
tazo hibiscus tea-black
turmeric and red cabbage- green
marker colored on a wipe- multi-colored
One of those is not like the others... I had read somewhere that you could color on a wipe with markers, wrap the egg and let it sit till the wipe was dry. It actually works, you just have to saturate the wipe with ink!
All of the other things were boiled to concentrate the color, except the raw beet juice. I just blended up raw beets and strained out the juice. You could also juice raw beets, but I didn't want to have to clean my juicer.
He really saturated his as you can see by his hands. And his turned out the best!
Not impressed with the wipe decorated egg.
We left these eggs for a couple of hours. They turned out really great!
Sunday we went to church and had an Easter egg hunt there. They got SO many eggs it was not a good precedent to set for our little home egg hunt.
It also started to rain as soon as we got out of church. It let up just a bit for the egg hunt and started again when everyone came to our house for a late lunch.
All smiles!! And that is not easy!
Like I mentioned, we had friends over and she always writes a note on her door when people come over. Did you know she "owns" this room! Haha!
