Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve
Yesterday I went on a field trip with Hannah's class. We went to one of the many open space preserves that are not too far from us. Lots of mountain bikers and I guess it is along the pacific coast trail that would be fun to explore more of some day.
We got to learn of 4 different habitats that were all a part of this 2 mile hike. And though the sun was out, it was chilly!! So during the forest habitat, I was wanting to keep moving and not look at every plant and every tree we came across if you know what I mean!!
Little alone time with this girl and I was glad to be exploring nature instead of the last time we were alone which was at the hospital for her tonsillectomy. Speaking of which, she had her 2 week check up on tuesday and she is completely healed. She has been eating A LOT of chips since that visit!!
If you look at the wingspan here and it is a V, you know it's a vulture and not a hawk. These are turkey vultures.
We learned some other cute little sayings to remind us to stay away from the poison oak, there was a lot of it too. "Leaves of 3, let them be. If they're hairy, it's a berry."
Happy friday!!
