Busy saturday
You guys, I wasn't a good mom last Friday. I love getting to stay home with my kiddos so much, but sometimes I just have a bad day. I put the kids down for a nap and immediately texted Mike. It may have read something like, "When you get home, I need to leave. Good luck with them." But it wasn't even them, it was me. I just couldn't handle anything else emotionally draining in the least. I had to get out and getaway, no cooking dinner (not even planning what it would be), no dishes, no corralling kids and packing and unpacking them into the car, just me. I have a wonderful husband, who got home early for me. So, what did I do? Well, I visited a farm, went to the garden store, went shopping, and even got groceries. It was only 2 hours, but when I came back I was ready to be a mom again. I can't put a finger on what it exactly was, but basically I was at the end of my rope. It was perfect timing I guess because I think the main thing was swim team every evening and now that is over. Well, evening practices are over, but meet season is just getting started. Which is a perfect segway into our very busy Saturday.
We had to be at the pool bright and early Saturday morning for Hannah's first meet, which was a practice meet for the team. I felt so bad for her, she was so cold. She also looks so tiny compared to everyone else. We see her as a big girl, but she is still a baby!
There were so many swimmers in one lane! :/
Mike brought the rest of the kids a little later, but still up and out the door early!
She did so great, but she was not excited about swimming her final event. She had already been at the pool for 5 hours, and all excitement was lost. After a little coaxing, and a promise for a hot tub soak, she swam her last event. Tiredness, hunger, and because we had the next thing to go to, we skipped the post-meet ice cream social. Instead, we made like a banana and... Okay okay, I won't say it.
We were home long enough for her to shower and me to wrap a present, and we were off to her friend's birthday party at a nearby park. This is Hannah's friend who taught her all of the Frozen songs before we had the soundtrack. They hang out a lot during school. Literally. Both of their favorite things to do is monkey bars. Hahaha. Okay, so maybe I need to get out and getaway again. :)
The party games involved a lot of water balloons. Including this one, where you drew a "bad guy" with chalk and then later threw water balloons at it. The kids loved this.
They also played Water Balloon Volleyball where you had to pass the balloons using the sheets.
It was very fun, but you definitely needed adults to play the game. I am pretty sure the adults were not disappointed with having to step in, they seemed to enjoy themselves more than the kids.
Mama Hannah carrying her baby doll all around. This pretty much sums up their time together each day.
Throwing in the towel! A day jam-packed with fun!
I am thankful that after a bad day, I can wake up to a new day and be fulfilled. Full of joy, filled with fun.
Lamentations 3:23
Praise the Lord for His new mercies! I'm so glad you were able to get away for a few hours (Mike, you're a wonderful husband!). I know exactly what that is like :-)
ReplyDeleteYour Saturday sounded insane! That's so much stuff for one day. I sure hope you guys took it easy on Sunday.
