Lake Washington | Summer 2015 Road Trip

The first week we were in Seattle we stayed with my dad.  Our time with him could pretty much be summed up by Lake Washington or water.  It was in the 90s all week and so we cooled off and had fun doing our favorite thing.  Warning:  LOTS of pictures to follow.

Ava LOVED Ellie.  "Hi, puppy!" was exclaimed all week long.

We did go to the zoo one day.  It was a ROUGH day!  After such a fun weekend in Portland and the 10 p.m. bed times, monday was the day it caught up to them.  Walking around the zoo is no remedy for tired children, if you didn't already know that.  :)  On the bright side, Calvin was SO cute navigating the zoo with map in hand.

We also made the drive to Remlinger Farms to pick raspberries.  We did this a couple of years ago and this time I was on mission to pick 20 lbs.  Last time, Mike helped and we didn't have Ava, so I wasn't sure how it was going to go.  The kids were great helpers for about 50 minutes and then painted rocks with mud for the last 40 minutes.  As long as they were not complaining, I didn't care what they did.  Let me say that I was thrilled with the 18 lbs. we came home with.

I was prepared for the berry stains, but not the fine dirt.  Oh my gosh, Ava got dirty.

I mean FILTHY!  She was also sweaty and appropriately, a hot mess.

We visited Jefferson Park again.  This park is so amazing.  Great views, skate park, spray park, playground, and paths for biking.  Well done, Seattle P&R.

We made a bunch of raspberry jam and some blackberry late one night.

I also made a raspberry pie with some of the berries, good thing I posted the recipe on my blog from two years ago or else I would not have remembered what I did or what recipe I used.

  It was SO yummy!

We were taking selfies to pass the time for Mike to get in from Cali.  He finally came in town and the next morning we were off to Bainbridge Island.  Blogging reminds me of everything we did and how much fun we had.  Thanks to my dad for flying down to help me drive up so we could do this with him.
