Saturday in the city

We had a bye weekend for Hannah's swim meets this past saturday and it was marvelous.  We drove up to the city and spent the morning exploring before attending a birthday party at 1.  We landed at the Ferry building where the saturday market was going on and we didn't need much else to do to pass the time.  It was a gorgeous day and the kids are old enough now to enjoy the different setting and people watching without having to go to a playground or kid-themed place.  Which was SO nice, it made me want to go back up and do it again on sunday.  SF is so so so fun!  There is a great playground right across from the ferry building and my kids definitely wanted to go, another trip when we have more time.  Anyway, the farmer's market was really big and you know those are one of my happy places.  As if the Ferry Building vendors weren't enough for the senses, I die.  I let Mike look in on Heath Ceramics and now he wants to buy 10 sets for our daily use.  That would be in another lifetime.

The birthday party was not far away in a park at an old fort.  Ft. Mason lawn was where they set-up the "giant" birthday party festivities.  See games below.  Disclaimer:  The party was not for a child, it was for my cousin-in-law who was turning 30.  With the Golden Gate in the background and great views overlooking the water, this was a fun place to hang.  We definitely stood out with our posse roaming the meadow that's for sure.  Them peeps in SF don't have kids, especially not 4.

Giant cards with two sets of giant red garbage cans shaped in a triangle in the background that I'll let you use your imagination for.

Giant Jenga was played along with giant checkers.

The city has always seemed so daunting and big, but if we just explore little bits at a time we'll become more comfortable with it.  So, I'm hoping to get up there again soonish, but the mere thought of doing an adventure today is out of my league.  I'm having one of those days where doing dishes seems too hard a task.  That's how it goes sometimes and with a good night of sleep I know I'll be up and at'em again tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!
