Soccer weekend
Last Friday, Mike and I got an impromptu date night (with Ava) to the Sounders game. It was part of my sister's birthday weekend celebration. We've never been and in Mike's words, it was an experience!
Ava's first game! These Sounders fans are intense! Poor Ava's ears. When I wasn't nursing her she was in the baby carrier with a blanket wrapped around her head to muffle the loud noises--pyrotechnics, loud spontaneous cheers, and that darn kid behind us who made a piercing clapping sound with some folded up paper thing he made. It was a good game and we won!
Saturday was Hannah's first day of soccer. It was kind of an emotional morning. She was a little turned off by the shin guards at first, she told us they were too "man-like" and didn't want to wear them. She got over it and when she got to the field she was pretty excited!
I think she was super excited that her daddy was her coach. (He did such a good job, I was very proud!)
Then she got pretty tired or hungry or who knows what and she kind of lost a bit of enthusiasm if you will. (She didn't participate in the scrimmage at the end, there was some standing around, some staring, and some pouty face too.) We're hoping she bounces back next week! Nothing a little encouragement can't fix, we hope!
