Happy Hollow
Last Friday, we went to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo. I have been hearing about this place from ALL of my mommy friends. I didn't want to take all 4 kids by myself and so it was the perfect thing to do while Mike's parents were in town. It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun. If you come visit and you have preschoolers, we are taking you here!
First up, the carousel. Look closely at Calvin's face. This is so him right now. He is such a turkey!! He is normally such a fun-loving, easy-going guy. Currently, he is none of the above. Not sure what is going on, but he has gone through these phases before and I know we'll have our little boy back eventually.
Hannah had her wallet and she wanted to use a quarter to buy goat food. I told you they have been anxious to spend their money! :) She bought the food and then was too scared to actually feed the goats. She warmed up to it by putting her hand under mine as I fed the goat.
She finally got some courage to feed the goat and as it was about to nibble she pulled her hand back and dropped all of the food! Whoops!
Fortunately, she had one more quarter and was able to feed the goat for real. I was so proud of her. She was literally clinging to my leg when the goat first came near and by the end she let it eat out of her hand. Calvin was able to get just enough courage to barely touch the goat as it was eating. Joel, not so much.
One part of the park has this HUGE play structure.
After lunch, we went on the rides. Both Hannah and Calvin were tall enough to go on this roller coaster and they were SO excited. Their first roller coaster! Kind of hard to see us on there, but we're there!
There were also some little kiddie rides that they enjoyed.
Calvin was set on going on this thing, but of course didn't crack a smile the entire time.
That is until Hannah joined him on the ride.
More rides. We didn't even go on half of them.
It was getting close to nap time, but we still hadn't checked out the zoo. We sped through the zoo area, but managed to see some neat animals like this jaguar.
I had never heard of these animals called Capybaras. They are basically a big rodent, but one of the attractions here.
We ended up getting memberships, so we will definitely be going back to visit and explore the remainder of the zoo and park. We just have to wait the current storm out, it has been super rainy and blustery, and these kids are stuck inside. They are making me go crazy too! I now know how spoiled we are getting to be outside every day. So spoiled!
Have a great weekend!
Feeding the goats reminds me of a certain horse Mike and I tried to feed :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you are managing without Mike! I had my mom fly in from the East Coast to help me this weekend. Benny is in a wedding tomorrow as the ring bearer!
TOTALLY reminded us of the horse and relived that moment!! I was wondering about you too! My dad is in town. The boys miss their dad BAD! Excited for him to come home!
