Spring soccer

  Hannah played her first spring soccer game on Saturday.  It was the second game the team had, but she couldn't play last week because of her surgery.  We went to the first game and after seeing how fun it was, Hannah couldn't wait to play!

 

  Her team is the Purple Butterflies.  They picked their name as a team and it was funny how it worked out.  Other names the girls included in the vote were the Purple Snakes, Bandits, Ponies, and Earth.  Hannah contributed Purple Butterflies.  When it came down to the final vote between Purple Ponies and Butterflies, Hannah REALLY wanted Ponies to win, but Butterflies won out.  This is only 4 of the 6 Butterflies.

  U6 Soccer is the best because there are no practices during the week, and everything is about having fun.  On Saturday, they do about 30 minutes of "skills" led by these UK coaches.  The "skills" are disguised as games and this week the theme was pirates.  The UK coaches are so great!  Add in their accents and it is entertaining for us all.

They are currently "scrubbing the decks" by dribbling the ball around the ship.

  Then they played this game where they tried to steal the treasure (their soccer balls) from the pirate.  In order to do that, they had to make the pirate go to sleep, by yelling "Pirate, Pirate go to sleep!"  He would fall asleep and they would go steal their balls before he woke up.

  He inevitably would wake up when they were near him taking their balls and they would have to dribble their ball back to the ship.  It would take them a few tries to get all of the balls because he'd wake up and they'd start screaming and run away without their ball.  It was really silly and fun!

After the skills practice, they have a 3v3 scrimmage.  Go Hannah!

  I am so glad she is playing soccer with this league, it is so enjoyable for us all.  I almost quit before she even joined because registration was a PAIN, but I'm so glad I didn't.  :)
