Girl of steel

She is my free-spirited child.  Joy, enthusiasm, and crazy energy flow freely from her.  (Emphasis on the crazy energy!)  She is super creative, always drawing, always creating, always singing, and always dancing (she's doing the hula for us above).  She is a loving sister and such a sweetheart.  She is also tough as nails, resilient, and a girl of steel.  Literally.

Well, that is, until the steel was taken out.

This morning, this sweet little thing went under for the 4th time in her short life.  Fortunately, it was a low-invasive surgery.  It was a small incision to remove the pin that was placed to help her ulna heal after the break.  The horrible break that I hope you never have to experience with your children.

We saved the hardware (kind of hard to see).  I imagined it to be much thinner than it is, but it pretty much is a long nail that they literally pounded through the bone.  One side is dangerously sharp!  It's out now and as per her usual, she has bounced back quickly.  This pic is a few hours post-surgery and I'm so glad we already have our silly girl back.
