Captain Calvin's 4th Birthday Party
We celebrated Calvin's birthday on Saturday. He wanted a pirate party and before he could change his mind, I ran with it. He tried to change his mind a few times, but I reminded him he wanted a pirate party and he would always smile and say, "Oh yeah." I love how easy to please he is. Must be a boy thing. :) Anyway, I had so much fun with this party and wanted to go SUPER simple. Of course, I got a little carried away, but I impressed myself with not waiting til the last minute to do everything and stressing myself out. Things that I could have put off I didn't and this party came together so smoothly. I kept looking at the clock surprised with how much time I had left to do everything. It was so much better than my normal frantic pre-party running around like a chicken with no head. So much better.
I did some fun DIYs for this party, easy too. Stay tuned for my DIY post.
I still can't believe my widdle boy is 4. There were no tears (from me), just fun. Lots of fun! And LOTS of pictures!! Enjoy!
The little Captain Calvin men were something that I first thought of. The cupcakes were seriously the inspiration for the whole party and all of my DIYs.
Have you noticed the pirate fabric background? This fabric was part of the line that I used for Ava's quilt. I plan to make the boys pillowcases with the fabric, hopefully sometime soon.
The pirate food spread was very fun to come up with:
Each child had the option to dress up with a bandanna, eye patch, and sash. Most opted out, but they were willing to amuse me with an "Arr pose."
After they ate, we started the games. The first one was trying to pick up and eat a marshmallow with a hook hand.
Next, was pin the pirate hat on Calvin.
The last game was a treasure hunt, but we made them pose for a picture first. They were kind of really excited about the treasure hunt and not the picture. :)
They followed clues to marked locations and then had to search for the treasure. The treasure was hidden inside and outside and was definitely worth finding. There was pirate bubbles, footballs, pencils, stickers, jewelery, and gold nuggets!
Time for cake! In true Calvin form, he also sang himself Happy Birthday. So cute.
Joel was very upset that he didn't get to blow out the candles.
The weather was perfect to spend the party outside. We were fortunate because last weekend we would have most definitely not been able to do that. We had such a fun time as we love to host and entertain, as well as celebrate our kiddos. From the looks of it, everyone else had a great time too!
CAPTAIN CALVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's the best!
ReplyDeleteYummmm! I wish pesto pasta was anti-inflammatory-diet friendly.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Joel putting the marshmallow on the hook is priceless!
