Golden Gate Park

Last Tuesday we ventured up to San Francisco to take in as much of Golden Gate Park that the kids could handle.  It is a large park (over 3 miles long) right in the city and we were only able to see a small portion on bikes before we made our way back and explored via the car.  We started at Ocean Beach and then headed east.

First stop, a look at the small herd of bison.  The kids kept warning us to not make loud noises or else we'd scare them and they'd start to stampede.  :)

These bison were way beyond being scared by us.  In fact, we had to take the back road to get close to them because they stayed as far from the road and people as possible.

Ava hated wearing that helmet.  If you can imagine, mobility was limited and I would probably really hate that too.

After the bison, we went back to the car which was parked on the beach.  It was around 11:30 by this point and the sun was out and warm.  We had bundled for the cold, but by now we didn't need it.  It was such a gorgeous day!

After lunch we went to the playground at the east end of the park.  It's a large playground and there is a carousel nearby.  It was so much fun for the kids and it made city living intriguing.

This park is known for these fun slides.

They looked so fun that I HAD to join in.

Joel's one liner for the day, "I can't, I have to concentrate!" After Mike kept asking him to look at the camera while he was climbing.

After the park we did a quick sneak peak of the view from the parking lot of Land's End.  Our next adventure will have to be to hike around Land's End, such great views.

We then drove home the long way along the water, through Pacifica and down to Half Moon Bay.  I was exhausted by the end of the day, but we had so much fun!
