Running Charleston
We decided to explore Charleston by running amongst the other ways we already had. Ideally, we would have also biked a lot of Charleston, but the bike situation was not working out for us. Running allowed us to get more area covered in less time, and get out hearts pumping too.
Our first run took us out to The Citadel. It is a military preparatory university, not directly affiliated to the military which we learned.
Across the street from The Citadel is Hampton Park, very large with gorgeous oaks everywhere. The oaks here are massive and I can't even imagine what the 1500 year old tree is like.
I had to climb it and Mike felt the need to take pictures of me.
Let's just say, these pictures make me look like a million bucks compared to some that he took of me struggling to balance on the tree and not fall off. The point is, isn't this tree massive?
Another run took us to some cute little parks named for some greats in our history. This one for George Washington.
Our destination was waterfront park.
And as you can see by our attire, the days were very nice. Sunny, blue skies, mid-60s, those are the winter days I like.
By the time we got here it was 11:00 and we realized that the place we wanted to go for breakfast stopped serving breakfast at 11:30. So, we busted our buns to get to the restaurant. We got seated for breakfast just in time to be the last to put in breakfast orders, all sweaty and out of breath. Those are what memories are made of, folks.
Our final run was when the weather had turned on us and it was rainy and much colder. It was Saturday and we had written out all of the final things we wanted to do and we hit 3 of them up on our run. Efficiency, people! The highlight of the run being the farmer's market which was more like a local artist market which I will blog about later.
Needless to say, we loved exploring Charleston on the run. You get a unique experience running than you do sitting in the car, biking, or walking. More great memories!

Running to eat. Good work!
