Gung Gung and bikes

My dad is in town from now until the day after Thanksgiving.  Calvin has been waiting for the past two weeks to show Gung Gung his biking skills.  We've been waiting for him to come so he can fix our bikes up too.  Not really, but yes really.  He is the best bike mechanic and loves it too.

He's been figuring out the biking routes up into the hills around our house.  He originally wanted us to bring a bike down for him when we moved, but surprisingly there wasn't an extra one for him.  So, he made this custom bike that breaks apart so he can travel with it.  I wish I would have taken a picture of the bike in all of it's pieces, but I wasn't thinking "This could be a great blog post!" at the time.  I was thinking more along the lines of, "Wow, good luck with that."

If you use your imagination, you can see how the bike really is broken apart in order to fit into this suitcase.

While I was making lunch, he hung up some bike hooks to get at least our road bikes and numerous extra wheels out of the way.  We also need a better place for our mountain bikes and all of the kids bikes, so that's next on the agenda.  I haven't ridden any bike since I was pregnant with Joel and so naturally the bikes needed some work.  He got both of Mike and I's road and mountain bikes in working order.  That is why we waited for him to come down....and fixing our bikes was not high on the priority list of things to do once we moved down.

  2. Ava is adorable. I love her outfit :-)
You're right, this is something about her that reminds me of Heidi. Maybe it's just that they are close in age...
