Christmas best

Ava was the only one that got a new Christmas outfit this year.  The boys somehow fit into stuff from last year and I thought the wedding dress that Hannah had would be a good Christmas dress.  Well, it wasn't.  The thing is, I didn't really look at it until the day of the wedding and it was too fancy for opening presents and playing.  So, I'm focusing on Ava here.  She had some fancy rose gold sequin shoes that I wanted her to wear with this red skirt.  (Of course, I put all of this emphasis on the shoes and she doesn't even have them on because they always fall off!)  Anyway, I couldn't find any gold/sparkly shirts, sweaters, or tights.  So, I had to make something work.

I dyed a white onesie, sweater, and tights with tea.  The "how to" I was looking at said to start slowly with Chamomile, but after I washed them, all of the color washed out.  I decided to go stronger and did English breakfast tea.  All they needed was a quick dunk in the hot tea and they were dyed the perfect color.  The color stayed after washing too!

Then I stenciled gold polka dots on the onesie for some sparkle!

Here is the one picture I found of her wearing the shoes!

I thought dying with tea was kind of fun, and so easy!
