Dumplings
We have been getting ready for a fun weekend. We have some dear friends coming in town and are doing our annual Chinese New Year dinner on sunday during the Hawks game.
I used to do a lot more homemade dumplings, pot stickers and especially won ton were always in the freezer (like 5 years ago when I had one child). Trader Joe's has had to suffice as of late. However, we're doing it up big on sunday with these homemade pot stickers.
We also have some other tried and true favorite on the menu for our Chinese New Year dinner. I hope to share the goods if I have time to take some pics before it gets consumed at half time of the game.
Speaking of won ton, I don't think I ever blogged about these ones we had for Thanksgiving lunch.
Knowing my sister was going to be in town, I put cilantro in them (not traditional), and it was a yummy touch. I was very fortunate to be able to watch my grandmother make these. She let us help when we were kids and it certainly made an impression.
I am laughing as I look at this picture because I was hovering over the counter and my dish when my dad came over and in his very unendearing tone asked "What are you doing?" Taking a picture of my food of course! Haha. My food pictures are hardly styled (oh, I wish they could be!) and have to be snapped quickly because as I've said before, when the food is done, it is time to eat!!
Have a great weekend and Go Hawks!
WHAT?! I knew you were watching the Hawks game, but I didn't know it was CNY style! I've been wanting sticky rice because sticky rice - sure taste nice.
ReplyDeleteYour wonton picture looks way more appetizing than mine, which is the exact reason why I never blogged my won ton making experiences. Thanks for the cilantro, it makes everything even more delicious!
On last thing, I think we work on the same brainwaves because this morning I thought, "I bet Linz scheduled a blog this morning.." And it's true! :)
