Lessons in culture | Needtobreathe
A couple of things...first, the letterpress class was blogged about on the Oh Happy Day site today. Second, after thinking about what I said in yesterday's post I got nervous that one may have mistaken my term "culture" for race. I am a bit mortified at the thought that I might be seen as someone gawking at those of another race. No, no, no, that's not what I meant!! Let me clarify, when I said "culture" I meant grown adults who were expressing themselves in costume. I mean, people looking like Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street and dressing up their bikes like reindeer. It caught me off guard since I am not used to it at all, but like I said yesterday, I miss seeing it and I think culture is so good! Please help me out, is there a better word to use in this instance?
Speaking of culture (not the costume kind, just the fun and new experience kind! :) ), Mike and I got cultured yesterday when we drove into San Francisco for a Needtobreathe concert. We went to The Reckoning tour two years ago in Seattle and were stoked to see them again last night for their Rivers in the Wasteland tour. They do not disappoint.
I was kind of dreading the wait times, you know how concerts are. And since we're "old," at least we felt old at the concert, standing for 4 hours was not something I was looking forward to. Anyway, the time passed quickly as we met 3 kids (22 year old kids) who were standing in front of us that were doing internships for an organization called City Impact. Very touching to hear their stories of working with the inner city SF population. They talked about a visible line between the nice part of the city and the inner city. They were telling their story when the band came on, so our time was cut short, but I was I was seriously impressed with these 3!
Back to the concert...
The Fillmore
These guys are so good and none of their music has ever gotten old to me. This particular album, however, has particularly great lyrics. I would show you more video, but I don't want to spoil it for one friend of mine who is going to their show in Seattle. You're going to love them even more!!!!!
I do not consider myself a musical person...I can hardly clap to the beat and don't even try to get me to hold a note or put together a couple of dance steps. Oh man. I like to listen to music and I like to sing along to songs, but music does not touch me like it does others. However, this song, Multiplied, absolutely touches my very soul. Enjoy.
Your love is like radiant diamonds
Bursting inside us we cannot contain
Your love will surely come find us
Like blazing wild fires singing Your name
God of mercy sweet love of mine
I have surrendered to Your design
May this offering stretch across the skies
And these Halleluiahs be multiplied
Bursting inside us we cannot contain
Your love will surely come find us
Like blazing wild fires singing Your name
God of mercy sweet love of mine
I have surrendered to Your design
May this offering stretch across the skies
And these Halleluiahs be multiplied
Then they had to go and top off the show with their 2nd (!!) encore. More Heart, Less Attack. That's Word. (If you're curious, you should go listen!)
You have inspired me, Needtobreathe!
