The Perfect Beach Day
I love the beach, there is no doubt about that. I thought other days were perfect beach days, but this one really was. I felt like I was in Hawaii. It was really, really warm with a cool breeze and the waves were medium-sized, but so gentle. They crashed quite aways from shore too which made them perfect for the kids to boogie-board, had I brought them. (There is only so much I can carry by myself.) The only thing to make it perfect perfect was if we actually were in Hawaii.
Last year, we happened to go to the beach the last friday of summer break and I thought it would be a fun tradition to begin. If there is ever a way to end one season before the beginning of another, it's with wind in the hair and sand EVERYWHERE!
My kids are so fearless when it comes to water, but those waves terrify them! I could not get any one of them all the way out there.
As we left town we tried Penny Ice Creamery in downtown Santa Cruz that was, you guessed it, perfect! One of those small shops that use local and natural ingredients that reel me in like a fish every single time. This one though, unlike the rest of them, was not outrageously priced. $2.50 for a kids scoop on a homemade waffle cone! They also had popsicles and sorbet for the non-dairy peeps in my fam. I normally opt out of ice cream, but I couldn't resist trying one of their delicious sounding flavors. Two thumbs up for Black Tea Peach!
And two thumbs up for the most perfect day at the beach!
