Hannah and this weekend

I think I have mentioned here before that Hannah is my high-energy, high-activity, producer/creater, maker, doer, go-getter child, and not to leave out that she can EAT.  It drives me crazy when people stereotype that only boys are high energy and eat a lot.  They all do.  Don't even get me started.

Anyway, a boy at the park was inviting others to do an obstacle course, but only if you could swing all the way to the other side on the zipline.  Little skinny girl didn't have the momentum and wasn't tall enough to get to the other side by about a foot.  Leave it to her to figure out a way.  Love that about her.  Love how she makes and designs and plays, etc.  Unless, I am exhausted that is...and I just want to sit and have her sit next to me.  Her need for activity in those times drives me up the wall!!  I feel bad asking her to just sit with me, but I can't keep up all the time!

Over the weekend, I did however "teach" her to sew.  I let her use the sewing machine and she sewed lots of ruffled streamers and made a store of it.  That kept her busy!  Do you know how long crepe paper is?  Do you know how many combinations you can create here?  That's some thinking, mom!

Her newest thing is that she likes to help cook.  I really do love this.  She is actually helpful and I think she is learning a lot.  She has become quite confident in the kitchen and she has expanded her coffee making skills into also preparing breakfast on saturday mornings for us.  I was very hesitant to see what she came up with this past saturday, but it turned out to be okay.  She made marshmallow sandwiches with bagels and cinnamon sugar.  Now, before you judge (like her father *ahem*), she was doing a take on resurrection rolls that we make on Easter.  For those we do a marshmallow inside of dough with cinnamon and sugar, and bake it.  The extra marshmallows on the side with the fruit though, I told her we could probably do without those next time.  ;)  She's learning about timing and portions and all sorts of things when she cooks for us.

I say I was hesitant to see what she made this past saturday because the previous saturday we woke up to nachos.  For breakfast.  Straight up.  I mean, she did the nachos right and all, and you could be far reaching and say it is chilaquiles without the chilaquile sauce (which we have for breakfast), but nachos in the morning are not really my thing.  But the children, you see, they were grubbin.  And that makes a great breakfast in my book.

Happy tuesday!
