Moving day

The moving truck came bright and early this morning.  The movers had to smooth things over with a neighbor after breaking a huge branch off of their tree and we had to walk through the house to tell them where some of the big stuff was going before they started unpacking the truck.  They started a little before 9 and ended around 1.  I don't know what we would have done without them!

We were also greeted at the house by this little guy.  I'm going to be real honest and say that I did not like this AT ALL!!  I think the little green geckos in Hawaii are cute, these are just ugly and gross.  My sister didn't even have to ask, but she did and the answer is yes, Joel was definitely scared of it.  It seemed to be fine just chillin in the crack, but I knew it might get run over by a hand truck weighed down by boxes so it needed to move.  One of the movers finally flicked it out of the way.  Unfortunately (for it), it is now belly up in the garden after Calvin thought it would be fun to run over it with his bike.  Back and forth, while he told Hannah all about it.  You laugh because you know my little Calvin.  I do not because that little belly up lizard stares at me as I walk through the driveway.  :/  I digress.

This is our new kitchen (taken yesterday).

This is the more current condition.  Those packers were awesome, but the amount of packing paper they used was kind of out of control.  I mean, 4 pieces of 30"X30" paper to protect two tealights, a bit over the top.  I'm not even joking.  During naptime Hannah was so happy to help and she unpacked a ton.  She is a little worker bee (as long as she's in the mood that is).

I won't bore you with any more packing pictures, but I will share some fun details of the house and yard soon.

I also wanted to mention that after the initial first day overwhelming/in shock feeling, I am doing much better.  I got a good night's sleep, we were brought lunch by familiar faces, Kathryn and Claire (thank you!!), I am seeing an Aunt tomorrow, a Seattle friend is flying in to help on Friday, and the house is looking more like our home with all of our stuff in it.  I think it's going to be all right here.  :)

  1. You should leave the lizard out there so all the other lizards know not to mess with the Soety house.
