Unprepared
I am trying to wrap my brain around what just happened this morning. I mentioned that the movers were coming today. Well, yes, they came and they came full force. It was like an invasion, an army of 6 people coming into your home and taking things apart and pulling things off of shelves as soon as they walked in. Just trying to catch my breath right now...
Around 8:45 this morning they rolled up in their big humongous truck and chaos broke out. Thinking I would have some time today to finish packing up everything we needed for the weekend and trip down, I was not ready for them to start. Unprepared is an understatement. I started running around like a madwoman collecting everything we needed that I hadn't packed yet, kid's shoes, swim suits, toys, toiletries, Ava's clothes, my stuff, the list could go on and on. I just started throwing all of it into our bedroom. In the middle of it all I had to nurse Ava, so from my glider I was ordering Mike around to grab things before it got boxed up. On top of it all, I had to leave because I had my 6 week check up with my OB-Gyn. As I was driving away I was thinking of everything Mike needed to grab that I forgot, phone chargers, cameras, Joel's shoes, etc. Not to mention knives, pans and olive oil for cooking tonight. It was just crazy.
Warning: There are a lot of pictures to follow.
I was able to snap this shot before they entered. (I wanted to get one of the house all cleaned up for a nice before and after. Yeah, not happening, the house is never cleaned up.) You can see Joel peeking from the dining table, we were still finishing up breakfast.
Another before pic of the tv room.
The hutch in the kitchen before.
Within minutes it was like this. TV gone, nice art crated and wrapped up.
Seriously, within minutes they had the bunkbeds taken apart.
After about an hour, all of my dishes in the hutch were individually wrapped and boxed away. These people are no joke!
This guy tackled the living room. Toys, books, all of it gone. He was so nice, he kept telling me to be calm and asked what I was worried about.
I came back from my appointment and snapped a shot of our tiny Yukon XL compared to the truck that pulled up. I told you it was huge!
After my appointment, so 3 hours from when they arrived, the house looked like this.
The whole TV room and closets boxed up. They did leave me my desk though, hence the ability to upload these photos and blog. I even have my stamp carving stuff and ink pads, I could craft tonight! Haha! I won't, but I could!
Joel coloring on the only paper left in the house. The movers were super cool with the kids, they offered up some of their paper for entertainment.
Calvin found a friend. Oh my gosh, it was so cute!! He followed Ziggy around wherever he went and talked his ear off. Ziggy didn't mind Calvin tagging along, he actually understood Calvin and he was super good about answering all of Calvin's questions. Calvin was concerned about his Cars movie and I heard Ziggy keep telling him that the movie wasn't driving down to California yet. Ziggy let him label some of the boxes and Calvin was so proud of his letters. At one point Calvin came to find me and asked, "When do I turn 4?" I hadn't answered him before he ran off to find Ziggy and I heard him say, "Oh yeah, I turn 4 on my birthday!" Haha. He cracks me up!
I also wanted to get a picture of Calvin and the truck to show the scale of this big rig. It is a monster!! Oh yeah, Calvin INSISTED Ziggy take the picture with him and the truck. Ziggy was so willing. Such a good sport!
This is what we get to do tonight! I told you I threw everything into our bedroom. Literally threw it in!! Now that the TV is packed up, Mike was concerned about what we were going to do tonight. I'm thinking we're going to have plenty to occupy our time.
I spy with my little eye a little bundle of joy. Can you find her in the picture above?
There she is. Alongside a pile of her clothes that needs to be packed!
At about 2:30 they left and this is what it looks like currently.
The final after picture.
I just looked to see if they packed my champagne and I was so excited to see that it was not. I sure need a drink!
That truck is crazy. Surprise! This is how YOU'RE getting to California! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they left you a towel so you could shower off the stress sweat.
Don't worry, I threw two towels into our bedroom too!!
DeleteWow, that's sounds INTENSE!! I can guarantee it will take much longer to unpack, even with me coming down to help. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to have six strangers in your house, packing up all your belongings.
ReplyDeletecrazy!!!! what a bizarre day!!! we had a corporate move once, and it was divine! although, the unpacking isn't as fun. ;( i love all your commentary and the pictures. best of luck as you head south!!!
