Berry picking
We visited Webb Ranch to pick some berries. It is located in the beautiful Portola Valley. If we were gazillionaires, we would be able to afford something there. Since we're not, we at least get to visit the ranch. We like to pick berries to make our own jam and it was also on our Summer Fun list that we are checking off.
This farm had all kinds of berries, but by the time we arrived at 10 am it had been pretty much picked clean. There were rows of boysenberry, blackberry and raspberry bushes, but hardly a ripe berry. Unlike last year, when we picked 20 lbs. of raspberries and could have easily gotten more, this year if we found a berry that was remotely ripe, we snagged it.
Grammy came along and it was nice to have extra hands!
Another part of the farm is this U-pick corn. If you look closely, you can see the horses. There are horse classes and camps at the ranch too.
We probably got enough to make a quarter batch of jam. It's okay though, because the kids had fun on the farm and we got some fresh corn for dinner tonight.
You northwesterners, don't take your berry picking places for granted!!
