Karate
The last evening my dad was in town we went out for dinner. He wanted to take me out for my birthday and I did not hesitate to choose Japanese. Ever since I can remember, my sister and I chose to have sushi for our birthday dinners. We felt like we couldn't lose trying out a restaurant in Japantown and it did not disappoint. We don't go out to dinner much and so the kids were super excited to go. It was the first time Hannah could really read and so she was spouting off everything she wanted from the menu. "I really want sparkling mineral water. Can I please have sparkling mineral water?" Haha. She also loudly says, "I didn't know they know how to speak Chinese. Look, the menu is written in karate." She was cracking me up.
We walked around Japantown a bit after dinner. Unfortunately, we went on Monday which is the wrong day because most of the shops were closed. When my family visited back in March they brought us fresh mochi and tofu from Japantown and those shops were closed. We'll have to go back for those sometime as well as try the ramen and Shave Ice everyone raves about.
We found some strawberry mochi at a grocery store which was delicious! Everyone loved it except Hannah who was expecting mochi ice cream.
It was a fun end to Gung Gung's week long stay.
