This is how we do it
I get asked all of the time how I do it every day. Or I get the comment, I don't know how you do it.
Let me be the first to tell you that I don't do it every day. I guess there are exceptions, I do feed the kids and I do make them wash their hands before they eat. I do have them change their undies and socks every day. I do walk them to school and on occasion will let them play at the park extra afterward. There is more that I do, but definitely a lot that I don't.
I don't play with every single one of them for the exact same amount of time each day, each with completely undivided and uninterrupted attention. Oh, I wish. Not reality. They play so much with each other and by themselves too. It is so very nice. When we play with them or read to them, it most often is not alone.
I don't dress every single one of them and make sure they have perfect outfits. I can't. I make them do a lot of age-appropriate tasks on their own every day. Besides Ava, they've chosen their outfit and put it on themselves. They've also (supposedly) brushed their teeth, combed their hair, washed their face, made their beds, cleared their dishes, and prayed for their day on their own before school starts. And often, Mama Hannah will help out big time in this department.
There are so many other "I don'ts" that I haven't gone into. So, for all of you who wonder, I don't.
I love this picture. I guess you could say that this is how we "do it." One off in the distance playing alone, another hanging off your back, the other asking for more, and the other sitting nearby. Not to mention, random things strewn all about the floor. The floor that was likely just vacummed, but definitely needs it again.
Doing what we do is exhausting, but so very much the season that we are so thankful to be in right now.
