Pomegranate Jelly

It's that time of year again!  Our fall harvest is in full swing.  Sadly, there are significantly less pomegranates than last year, but we intend to not let a single one go to waste.  (This picture is from last year, because a pomegranate is a pomegranate.)

However, the satsumas are back in full force and on all occasions that you can't find Ava you can rest assured she is sneaking another satsuma from the tree.  Green ones and all.

Back to the jelly.  We had so many pomegranates last year we didn't know what to do with them.  So we juiced some and put some pomegranate juice into kombucha.  YUM!  And we made some jelly just to use up some of the juice.  It was so delicious we wish we could have made more.  It was a must for this season.  Saturday, I made our first batch using our favorite pectin and their recipe.

And since fall has come I think (of course right after my friday post), biscuits and mushroom gravy with 3 choices of homemade jam were on the menu for sunday morning.  I was just so proud of our jams I had to take a pic.  Clockwise from the top:  pomegranate jelly, apricot jam with apricots from our yard, and raspberry jam from our summer picking up in the PNW.  It is a lot of work, but so so so worth it in my opinion.  So.

And those buttermilk biscuits.  Family fave.  I've been to the south and had some yummy biscuits, but there is no reason why these ones aren't just as good.  And straight from the oven, yum!  If you want the recipe, I'll send it to you.  And my mushroom gravy I can send to you too.  :)

Happy Monday!
